Renewing prosperity in Southwest's historic quadrant

Southwest Renewal Foundation

The Southwest High Point Heritage Greenway will provide exceptional opportunities for commercial and residential development connecting the center city and its parks to adjacent neighborhoods and beyond. This is particularly true of Phase One–a 1.8-mile greenway running through industrial areas and parcels of under-utilized land.

Once built at an estimated cost of $17,691,000 million, the 6.4 mile long Greenway is expected to generate $249,989,600 in benefits over 20 years: $223,000,000 in health care savings; $11,391,600 saved by reduced pedestrian and bicycle crashes; $11,748,000 new business activities; and $3,850,000 new labor income. A key component of the greenway is to create a business park atmosphere where people live and work to raise the quality of life, foster public and environmental health, and attract business to create jobs in the center city.
